Kids of the Kingdom - Day 1

After twenty years of outstanding dedication to children's ministry, my mother-in-law, Kathy Long, put on her very last vacation Bible school at Mt. Pleasant Community Church. Anticipating this, we scheduled our vacation around this date to ensure that Elise could attend. Appropriately, the theme this year was Kids of the Kingdom (castles, princesses, knights... Elise's obsessions). :)

Amazingly, we spotted Gramma (aka, "Lady Kathryn") as we entered the crazy-busy church that first morning, just minutes before the first opening time.

Just moments later, in the hallway that Elise called "The Forest of No Return," Aunt Tarami (aka, "Princess Tea") approached and we snapped this photo. Even now, looking at this picture brings back a rush of excitement for all that was to come!

Poppy assisted Elise in checking-in to the Pre-K class. I think there were about 50 kids in this group alone!

The head teacher crowning Princess Elise.

Elise, in awe and a bit overwhelmed, makes her way into the classroom.

Just outside her room, Princess Tea and Lord Six Pence (aka cousin Andrew), pose for a shot after peeking in at Elise. Tarami and Andrew taught the memory verse to the kids each day.

Elise and her class at the first opening time (a half hour of drama and songs in the Great Hall of the King's Castle).

A shot from the closing time. From left to right, Princess Tea, C.J. (the Court Jester, our dear friend Andrea Abke), the Duchess, A.J. (the Apprentice Jester), the Duke (hiding behind A.J.), the Queen of Hearts, and you can see the arm of Lord Shilling.

This is a good picture of the whole stage, taken the night before. Isn't the castle incredible? Elise LOVED that Gramma's church was transformed into a castle. :)
