UP 200

This is the weekend of the UP 200, a 200-mile sled dog race that starts and finishes here in Marquette. The start of the race was tonight at 7pm, and the racers are expected back on Sunday afternoon. You can read more about it at www.up200.org.

So, we bundled Elise up and hit the town for the festivities. You'll see in the photos that the main street through town had snow piled up on it for the start of the race and there were tons of spectators on all sides cheering on the competitors. A highlight for me was when we took Elise behind the start to where all the dogs were getting ready for the race. There was lots of barking, even from Elise who occassionally let out a little, high pitched "ruff ruff." :)
